About Namebabs

I made this site because crawling across Google to find my son's eventual name was a nightmare. Wanting a name with Hindu heritage that was also Western-friendly was incredibly tricky.

So, I built Namebabs to help other parents looking for similar combinations, or for anyone who simply wants to check how popular or trendy a name actually is in the UK right now.

Where did you get the data?

All of our popularity and trend data is sourced directly from the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS). We use the official birth registration data spanning from 1996 to the most recent release.

We process this raw data to calculate our proprietary Popularity, Trendiness, and Timelessness scores, giving you a much clearer picture of a name's trajectory than a simple ranking. Cultural and religious origins have been algorithmically enriched to help you filter names by heritage.
